Hotly tipped 23-year-old producer and multi-instrumentalist Hemai sonically melds jazz and alternative with an electronic tinge. Receiving upfront support from Gilles Peterson on his debut 2019 EP “Eyes Closed” was closely followed by Hemai’s official remix of Oscar Jerome’s “Gravitate” and his debut album “Strange Beauty” on Tru Thoughts. ‘Strange Beauty’ has seen Hemai garner support from the likes of Lauren Laverne (BBC 6Music), Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1), Jamz Supernova (BBC 1Xtra), Tony Minvielle and China Moses (Jazz FM), Papaoul (WorldwideFM), EARMILK, Stereofox and Clash Magazine as he cements his place in the thriving UK jazz and electronic scene.

Besides hosting a monthly Jam Session ‘High Times’ at Hootananny Brixton, Hemai played stages across Mostly Jazz Festival, Latitude Festival, Wild Paths amongst others. With his first single ‘Feet Will Fall’ featuring UK singer-songwriter B-ahwe landing on UK’s imprint College Music / Well Overdue, leading up to his new EP, the young jazz-alternative producer and musician is only getting started on his journey.
