Mid Nite Life is the creation of London rapper producer Frankie Plato and Bristol producer Will Lardner. A friendship and collaboration forged from their time performing together over the years – a life that began at midnight! Whilst this new direction is rooted in the Indie scene, it retains core elements of Punk, Bass & Hip Hop which delivers an energetic sound, punctuated with powerful lyricism and acerbic social commentary. When out of the studio and playing live, they are joined on stage by Jimmy Nordan on drums & Jack Beale on guitar.
Following their critically acclaimed debut single What You Know About (2022) which received the Record Of The Day accolade and was licensed by BMW for their podcast series, they quickly expanded their reach throughout the year with follow up singles Vibes & Run Home with both tracks being featured across multiple BBC6 Music Shows as well as support from the BBC Introducing network which in turn garnered them plays on the BBC Radio 1 flagship Introducing show. They would go on to be featured on the BBC Radio 1’s Future Alternative list where they were described as sounding like “a young Jamie T.”
2023 would start with another big accolade with BBC Radio 1’s Future Alternative show premiering their latest track My Own Way. This quickly amassed radio support from the BBC network with live interviews on BBC Radio London and an invitation to produce an “influences” style Mini Mix for BBC Introducing. They would finish out 2023 with their first UK tour to promote their latest single Creeping with shows in Cambridge, London, Brighton and Bristol all selling out in advance.
2024 saw the release of every HipHop DJ’s favourite from the pair, Hypebeast. It was also picked up by the BBC and used as the walk out music by host Emmanuel Sonubi on BBC 1’s Live At The Apollo and played on rotation at the World Athletics Championship. Having spent the majority of 2024 in the studio and playing shows. They are now fully stocked with a heap of new original music and some very exciting collaborations for 2025.
