Felix Raphael’s musical journey definitely began with simply making music. Whether it was his voice or various instruments. Everything wanted to be tried out. And that hasn’t changed to this day. Certainly not the most gifted musician in theory, it is his creativity and courage to simply do something off the beaten track that makes him something special. Producer, songwriter, lyricist, studio musician, live act.
He combines all of these things. Sometimes more focus on one, sometimes more focus on the other. After initially hesitating to mix electronic sounds with his musical background, Felix finally found his unique musical signature in the synergy of electronic drums and synthesizer, an organic indie feel and his unremarkable voice.
His style is difficult to categorize, but it can best be described as deep and melodic house with a distinct blend of organic and classical elements, Felix would probably call it Indietronica. Melody and harmony are his top priorities, but he still loves the rhythm of electronic music, the 4/4 beat and the energy that can arise in a club or at a festival. That’s why he combines exactly that in his music.
Collaborations with big names in the music scene such as Ben Boehmer, Oliver Koletzki, Booka Shade and Tinlicker have certainly raised his profile and made him a household name.
Naturally, his live performance is influenced by his rich musical background. He has meticulously put together a live set and performance that includes only his own productions with live vocals, guitar, synthesizer and piano, resulting in a live
performance that is as musical as it is danceable. As an electronic live act he has played internationally in countries such as Mexico, South Africa, Turkey, Switzerland and Spain to name but a few.
Felix also founded his own label YION, which quickly made a name for itself in Berlin as a renowned melodic organic house label focusing on the crossover side of electronic music with a touch of organic music.His last releases in 2023 were two singles with Swiss talent Natascha Polké on PIAS and a track with Ben Boehmer on Ninja Tune, which was streamed 5 million times on Spotify and played on the biggest radio stations worldwide in less than 4 months.
