King Nun

About

For the band that started as schoolfriends in 2013, King Nun have been on a long road to their upcoming second album,
Lamb Consisting of Theo Polyzoides (vocals and guitar), James Upton (guitar), Nathan Gane
(bass) and Caius SY (drums), what would later become an official band started as friends bonding over their shared love of bands off the beaten path, from Richard Hell and Television to Sonic Youth and Pixies. On this foundation, they built their own off kilter indie punk hybrid, exhibited on 2019’s Mass cited by NME as ‘brutal and brilliant’ and DIY as ‘a sound to be reckoned with’. The band have built an impressive live reputation too, listing headline tours in Europe and the US, with Rolling Stone naming them ‘Best Rock Newcomers’ at Bonnaroo, and supporting artists including Foo Fighters, Black Flag and Gang of Youths. With the pandemic cancelling further tours, the band used the time to build a new studio and write
and record as much as they could, culminating in the songs that would make up
Lamb and a new signing to Marshall records. The album marks a lot of change for the band: it is their first release
produced by Caius, and the first appearance of newest member Ethan SY on guitar. It also signal
s a return to their heavier roots, while maintaining the melodic choruses and stubborn optimism that
are a staple throughout their music. With Lamb, King Nun are on their way to becoming one of rock’s
vital voices.
